Dr. James Ferrari is a kind man who strives to get to the sorce of the problem. He does not rely on reports, but looks at the X-rays scans and MRI and actually talks through them with you explaining as he goes. Then he gives the options and lets you choose what will be best for you. He is very knowledgeable and was highly recommended to me by 2 friends.

I wanted to express how pleased I am with OCC, Orthopedic Centers of Colorado and Dr. Ferrari my surgeon. My wife and I had read good reviews, that referred to him as the “shoulder guy” and they were correct.

I am 76 and had never had a surgery before; consequently I didn’t know what to expect. I was very pleased how smooth & professional this anatomic full shoulder replacement went. I had bone on bone with no rotator damage so that making my surgery a little easier. Dr Ferrari came into my prep room and very professionally explained what and how he was going to proceed with the surgery. It was a little more detail than I wanted to know at that time. My anesthesiologist also came and explained how he would do a guided nerve block to deaden my arm for surgery and then he gave me a dose of the happy drug, Versed, before the nerve block so I didn’t feel a thing. My surgery lasted a little over 2 hours. While I was in recovery, Dr. Ferrari went to the waiting room and professionally explained to my wife that the surgery went really well. When I woke up in the recovery room, they treated me like a king and made sure I was fully recovered after 2-3 hours and sent me home.

The morning following surgery, I received a call from a surgical nurse from OCC to check on me to see how the night went and if there were any questions. That afternoon I received a call from Dr. Ferrari to see how I was doing. I was so impressed with the professional follow-up and a true concern.

The nerve block lasted about 15 hours and I followed Dr. Ferrari’s medication plan. I only took my pain meds for 4 days and after that there was no pain. I couldn’t believe it.

Having my prescheduled follow-up appointment with Dr. Ferrari one week after the surgery, he took X-rays and everything looked perfect. He wrote me a script for physical therapy and with specific instructions he then showed me a few exercise to start doing 3-4 times a day until I got my PT scheduled. He said find a good physical therapist that will follow the script that I wrote and one close because you are going 2x a week for 4 months. I start PT today.

It will not be a reversal replacement. I have been in pain for a long time and he said he would take care of that.

My family's been going to this practice for a number of years It Started With My Father, my sister and then myself. Dr Ferrari has done surgery on my father and me and I have seen other doctors in the practice as well. I would recommend them to anybody that needs a good orthopedic doctor. Whether it's your ankle, your shoulder or your hands they have a doctor to help with them all.

Dr Ferrari. It was my first ever serious surgery,
so I was very anxious and stressed. My two appointment, Dr Ferrari took the time to explain what my XRay and MRI showed. I had a severe tendon tear and arthritis that has always giving me irritating pain in my shoulder for years. I feel blessed to have Dr Ferrari as my Orthopedic surgeon with all his years of experience.
More important Dr Ferrari made my wife and I feel like family, instead of just a number or next patient. So I highly recommend Dr Ferrari and his knowledgeable and friendly staff to all my family and friends.

This was my first time meeting Dr Ferrari for shoulder issues after a fall on ice. I was in so much pain and was crying during my appointment. Dr Ferrari spent time with me going over my MRI results, explaining everything in detail. His bedside manners can be used as the perfect example of how to treat patients, like family. He made it clear that his goal was to make me smile by the time I left my appointment and with the amount of pain I was in, I was skeptical.
Because I had already tried PT and failed, Dr Ferrari was willing to try a cortisone injection. Now, most places will have you schedule another appointment and come back for an injection, but Dr Ferrari, did it right there, in office, first appointment.
My tears started to dry and the overwhelming amount of pain I was in, started to subside. I had my appointment a couple weeks ago and have felt pretty darn good. From an 8-9 in constant daily pain, down to a 3 in discomfort sporadically throughout the day. To me, that is a big win. I can function and use my arm again and not be in such severe daily pain.
Thank you Dr Ferrari! You were my knight in shining armor, and for that, I'm forever grateful. 💜

The front office staff is very friendly and efficient. Dr. Fararri and his PA are very professional knowledgeable and explain things in an easy to understand way.

Dr. Ferrari explained all the details of the shoulder replacement upfront and the procedure went as expected. Better than before but still working on mobility, strength and residual soreness, all of which I understood would be part of the recovery. No surprises. I would recommend OCC and Dr. Ferrari to friends and family.

Dr Ferrari is absolutely great at what he does - he’s regarded among the random doctor friends of my acquaintance as “the shoulder guy” here in town and he’s definitely living up to his reputation. No-nonsense but willing to take the time to do things right. I’ve already sent a coworker his way.

I’ve had two injuries to two shoulders. I am happy to say that Dr Ferrari went over my MRIs with me and did not recommend surgery. In other words, he is not knife happy. Out of three visits, I had him do 3 injections- two different injections in each shoulder, and they helped tremendously…which he knows I am afraid of needles. Very impressed.

I’ve had issues with my knee for years and didn’t feel like my primary took my concerns serious. A co-worker referred me to OCC and I decided to get a second opinion. Dr Ferrari is the best. I am very avid outdoors (bike, hike, ski etc) and he gets it and will work to get you back out there!

On time at appointments. Professional review and steps toward recovery of shoulder repair caused buy ice slip and fall. On that note, my second visit to OC the other was foot repair by Dr Ing. I’d recommend the practice to anyone needing physical repair.

Dr Ferrari repaired a labrum tear in my shoulder in November 2022. He was understanding, yet direct (which I appreciate and believe is very important when it comes to medicine), very intelligent, let me know my options, answered all of my questions honestly, and I never felt pressured to have surgery— it was a decision he let me come to on my own—which I think is extremely important. His team was wonderful and helped put me at ease the day of the surgery— my nerves got the best of me that morning, but I knew I was in great hands when I was greeted by his staff throughout surgery prep— he honestly has done a spectacular job choosing his medical staff and you will be in the best of hands from start to finish. I am currently in physical therapy and have had 2 follow up appointments with Dr Ferrari so far, and it has been a great experience. If you are hesitant about having surgery— Dr Ferrari and his medical staff should be your go to team if you decide to move forward. 10/10

I'm a 62 year old active male with left knee issues. 3 months ago Dr. Ferrari saved me from getting a full knee replacement which was suggested by other physicians who's organization I won't mention. He had actually had done a scope 10 years ago on same knee which was great until about a year ago. After looking at it and doing an MRI he determined that another scope was in order but far from any full or partial knee replacement. I had to go out of network and pay for the procedure myself out of pocket but it was STILL way less cost than the alternative. Dr. Ferrari is not only one of the best ortho surgeons in the Denver metro area but he spends time explaining whats going on with every aspect of your injury/issue. My knee feels so much better now and if and when the day comes that I do need a knee replacement, Jim will be the one who I trust to tell me so. I can't recommend him enough. Don't hesitate to get a second opinion from him at the very least!
