Dr. William J. Ciccone II, a fellowship-trained orthopedic specialist in arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery, joined Cornerstone Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in 2010. He is actively involved in the academic community by serving on various committees and reviewing research for nationally recognized orthopedic journals and is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. He was named a “Master in Shoulder Arthroscopy” by the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). With this distinguished ranking, Dr. Ciccone instructs surgeons and residents in advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques. He is also a clinical instructor for the University of Colorado Physician Assistant Program and Rocky Vista University.

Prior to working at Cornerstone Orthopedics, Dr. Ciccone earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder and graduated with honors from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine. After medical school, he completed his internship and residency at Pennsylvania State University, Hershey Medical Center and completed fellowship training in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Ciccone’s sports medicine experience is highlighted by his previous position as the team physician for the Colorado Rockies AAA Sky Sox team, as well as medical director for the Rocky Mountain State Games, the State Games of America, and the United States Olympic Training Center events in Chula Vista, CA. He is currently a team physician for Regis University.

Office personnel are friendly, helpful. Dr Ciccone was short and to the point. Answered all my questions, acknowledge the pain that comes with this kind of break. Glad he was recommended.
Second visit a year or so later- different problem. Very much in pain, X-rays showed fancy name for calcium in or around rotor cuff. Suggested a cortisone shot, may or may not work. Within couple hours could move my shoulder, pain is subsiding. By end of day at bedtime I’m from a 10+ down to 2-3.

Dr. Ciccone did a full right shoulder "reversal" surgery four months ago. He said that I needed this surgery, not a regular shoulder surgery, as with all the arthritis, I would be back to where I was in three years. He did a wonderful job, and has followed up on me several times since my surgery. He just saw me, and the X-rays showed that everything is tight and in place! I will see him again in 6 months. If anyone is having shoulder issues, I would highly recommend Dr. Cicccone. He also has a PT office directly adjacent to his office. I went for 8 sessions of PT following the surgery, and found them to be equally qualified to help with my healing.

I’ve seen Dr. Ciccone II, MD for about a year now. We originally chose a more conservative approach to intervention with my shoulder pain, and though it helped to a degree, it didn’t solve the issue, and it became apparent I would need a rotator cuff repair (supraspinatus) and biceps tenodesis in order to fully heal. It has now been nine days since surgery (which went without complications) and my shoulder is on the mend. Dr. Ciccone’s approach and demeanor were kind and professional, and with this surgery he was able to address the underlying problems with my shoulder joint. I am very happy with the progress in my recovery so far (the pain has been less than I expected with just a couple of days on the stronger pain meds other than Tylenol) and look forward to having full use of my shoulder over time and in the future.

A relative suggested Dr Ciccone to me. I called their office and got an appointment the next day. I got to my appointment 20 minutes early. They got to my room within 10 minutes where I spoke with the NA. Next the X-ray tech came in and I got some x-rays
Taken. Dr Ciccone came in and we discussed the X-ray. No structural damage just the normal old age stuff. Then he gave me RX for physical therapy. Went next door and scheduled my PT. Then I was back in my car. All this in less then 1 hour. Everybody in the office was fantastic. Thanks Dr Ciccone.
