William J. Ciccone II, MD

Dr. William Ciccone II is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and one of Colorado’s leading shoulder specialists, with extensive expertise in arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery. A nationally recognized leader in shoulder arthroscopy, he is an active member of the academic orthopedic community, serving on professional committees, reviewing research for nationally recognized orthopedic journals, and maintaining membership in the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. Dr. Ciccone was named a “Master in Shoulder Arthroscopy” by the Arthroscopy Association of North America, a distinction that reflects his expertise and allows him to train surgeons and residents in advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques. He also serves as a clinical instructor for the University of Colorado Physician Assistant Program and Rocky Vista University, helping educate the next generation of orthopedic providers.

Prior to working at Cornerstone Orthopedics, Dr. Ciccone earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder and graduated with honors from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine. After medical school, he completed his internship and residency at Pennsylvania State University, Hershey Medical Center and completed fellowship training in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Ciccone’s sports medicine experience is highlighted by his previous position as the team physician for the Colorado Rockies AAA Sky Sox team, as well as medical director for the Rocky Mountain State Games, the State Games of America, and the United States Olympic Training Center events in Chula Vista, CA. He is currently a team physician for Regis University.

Dr Ciccone performed a complex surgery to repair my shattered shoulder after a bad fall. He has been kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and reassuring throughout the entire process (as has his staff). I’m so grateful for the excellent care I’ve received and wouldn’t hesitate to call him for any future orthopedic issues. Dr. Ciccone has been there for my whole process, and has been so helpful in my recovery from a torn ACL with miniscus damage. I was in a climbing accident and was very uncertain of how I would recover and what my options were as I haven't had an injury this bad before. Dr.C has ensured I have had success in getting mobility back, both before the ACL surgery and after. His entire team both in office and in surgery have been amazing and so kind. I have felt well informed and in control of my care through this experience and trust the guidance from Dr.C and his staff. They really care about your comfort and progress. Its amazing how much of a difference they have made in getting me back on my feet!

Dr. Ciccone was great. He gave me good insight on why I need to be careful with my fractured shoulder so I can proceed with my knee replacement in a few weeks. He was able to pinpoint why I am having pain in another shoulder I had replaced 9 year's ago. I will definitely be going back within the year to have the second procedure done to alleviate the pain in my shoulder I had replaced. All the other surgeons I saw just wanted to do cortisone shots. Both ortho surgeons I've seen in the practice have been great!!
