Dr. Andrew Apple is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of knee and hip arthritis, including primary and revision joint replacement. After graduating from Duke University, he obtained a Master of Science degree in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Apple earned his medical degree and completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine. He then pursued a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Prior to joining Advanced Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Specialists, Dr. Apple began his career as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Joint Replacement at Tulane University School of Medicine, where he was involved in the education and mentoring of residents and medical students. Dr. Apple has been an invited speaker at regional and national meetings, has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and has presented his research at regional, national, and international conferences. He currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty and the Journal of Knee Surgery. Dr. Apple is a Fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Apple feels that patient education is essential for successful orthopedic care and loves seeing patients return to their activities, whether with surgical intervention or non-operative treatment. He is excited to establish his practice in Colorado and is currently accepting new patients at the Denver and Parker locations.

I am officially two weeks out from hip replacement surgery with Dr Apple. I cannot say enough about Dr Apple and his team. I would highly recommend them. I have a phobia of hospitals and medical facilities and Dr Apple and his team made me as comfortable as possible to get through this highly anxious situation. Dr Apple slows everything down and answers every question you may have, and listens to your concerns. This could have been a horrible experience for someone like me, but it wasn’t. I am very thankful for the research I did prior to deciding to have surgery and for the outcome I have received with Dr Apple.

I thank Dr. Apple for every thing he has done for me, by showing me the X- Rays he had taken and explaining what was really happening with my knee and suggesting first, treatments by steroid injections, and then IF necessary, going further into possible surgery.... At first I was afraid of taking an injection at all because of some of the "horror" stories about steroid injections and thought it would be useless, but Dr. Apple calmed me by expressing what it would or could do for me for the good. He was quite informative about everything I asked about and that was extremely satisfying and helpful to the point I did receive a steroid injection, AND IT didn't even hardly hurt at all. There were times that I have fainted from different injections in the past, but Dr. Apple was very understanding and kind about my fears and worries about my knee and then, gently doing the very quick injection to which I thought was going to be painful and long but he was quick and it was done in seconds without any hurt. IF anyone ever asks me about Dr. Apple, I will never hesitate to recommend him immediately. I only first had him as a new patient, but to me, he's a kind and concerned Orthopedic Doctor. He is very informative about my knee issue, explains thoroughly what is going on, gives options of what could be done, and most of all, he doesn't choose the options that must be done for you. He allows you to think about those options and choose what you, as a patient, wants. That is very important to me. In the past years, sometimes I've not had that opportunity.
So again, I'm glad that Dr. Apple has accepted me as his patient and I thank him very much for what he's done so far and I would not want to go to anyone else for my knee issues or any other othopedic issues. Thank you Dr.Apple.

Dr Apple has been an amazing doctor meeting my various needs. Anticipating one nite in the hospital after my knee replacement surgery, many complications ended up 12 nites, 5 in Rose Medical Center and 7 in Spaulding Rehab Hospital. He was very attentive and addressed my concerns with the complications putting me at ease. With several months into my healing process, .a new complication arose, extreme muscle spasms making me unable to move my leg without deep agony! Dr. Apple’s treatment was fitting me in his schedule asap as if I were his only patient. He went above and beyond the call of duty! He was very impressive and much gratitude of his care.

I had my hip replaced on Dec. 22 by Dr. Apple. I was given very clear pre-op instructions. I had my pre-op appointment with Dr. Apple and he explained exactly what would happen. He is very, very easy to talk to, and addresses all of your concerns. Had a great experience. I had been trying to figure out why my knee was so sore. After several doctors trying different treatments, Dr Apple finally figured out my Hip was the problem. I was called back to an exam room right after check in and the MA who took my info was great. Called me right away for an X-ray and tech was super efficient! Dr Apple is very good at listening and waiting until you are comfortable having surgery. Not pushy at all. He is conscientious, kind and thorough. He makes sure your pain is managed. He pays attention to details. And his assistant is quick to respond when you call in with questions. I have lots of medical issues that complicate surgery. He addressed each one.

Dr. Apple asked great questions to be able to assess the pain that I have been dealing with for nearly 12 weeks. I chose him from the numerous reviews, if not every review that stated that “he listens” “he heard me” and I can concur with each of those reviews! He asked great questions and listened and he said according to what I was saying and assessing from manipulating my knee and foot, he could then say what he believed was the possible issue. There is need for further MRI imaging to be able to confirm what the actual issue is, and I do believe I was heard and what is being explored as a possibility may lead to the answer or at minimum head us in the correct direction. I sought after a new orthopedic after finding no answers with a previous doctor. I believe Dr. Apple will be about the search to discover what the true cause of this pain on the left side of my left knee is actually stemming from and be able to resolve the issue.

After injection and PT we decided to scope my knee as there was little improvement. Happy it was done as it was a bucket handle tear that twisted and a portion of the meniscus needed to be removed. Feeling amazing now. Feel very fortunate to have Dr. Apple of my doc and surgeon!
