Dr. Gregg Martyak is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). He holds the distinguished Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand and specializes in treating conditions of the hand, wrist, and elbow in both adult and pediatric patients. His expertise includes microvascular surgery, complex nerve injuries, traumatic reconstruction, arthroscopy, and joint replacement.
Dr. Martyak earned his undergraduate degrees from the University of Virginia and Georgetown University. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Rothman Institute/Thomas Jefferson University. He then pursued additional fellowship training in hand and microvascular surgery at the Philadelphia Hand Center, one of the nation’s top programs for upper extremity surgery.
Dr. Martyak served in the United States Air Force from 2008 to 2012, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has extensive experience in combat casualty care and deployed multiple times to Iraq and the Middle East. During his military service, he served as a clinical instructor for the combined Air Force/Army orthopedic residency program at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He is also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Martyak was part of the historic team that performed the first hand transplant at a military facility. Since 2012, he has continued his work in Colorado Springs, where he remains committed to delivering the highest level of care for patients with hand and upper extremity injuries.
