Dr. Matthew Delarosa is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery. He provides both surgical and nonsurgical treatment to improve function and reduce pain. He focuses on complex trauma and reconstruction of the upper extremity, wrist surgery and arthroscopy, elbow surgery, targeted muscle reinnervation, elective treatment of nerve compressions and hand arthritis, and injuries to soft tissues including nerves, tendons, and ligaments.

Originally from Baton Rouge, LA, Dr. Delarosa completed medical school and orthopedic training at LSUHSC New Orleans. He then further specialized in Hand and Microsurgery at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC under the direction of Dr. Glenn Gaston. In addition to the full spectrum of routine upper extremity problems, a significant portion of his fellowship training concentrated on brachial plexus and complex peripheral nerve injuries. Additionally, he traveled to Florianopolis, Brazil to study under Dr. Jayme Bertelli, an expert in peripheral nerve injuries, brachial plexus injuries, and tendon transfers. He is also interested in improving function of upper extremity amputees through targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) and the use of a myoelectric prosthesis. Through his work in congenital, brachial plexus, and amputee specialty clinics he has gained a wealth of knowledge on the multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Working at OCC offered the opportunity to work amongst an amazing peer group of dedicated orthopedic surgeons that strive for nothing but the best for their patients.

Outside of work, Dr. Delarosa is an avid golfer and ultra runner as well as a fan of Texas, LSU and New Orleans Saints football. Most of his time off is spent with his wife, Ali, and their two children.

Fantastic office and care team. Very sincerely interested in helping their patients achieve the best possible outcome. I give Dr. D grief about his Cowboy 🤠 but it bc he listens and I’m able to have a productive dialogue with him. Today, May 30, however, the Dr. told another member of my care team that I, his patient, am not aware of the gravity of my injury and the lack of suitable solutions to it. That is ALL WRONG; I have been fully aware of the gravity of my injury and the Dr.'s inability to think outside the box (stem cell, referral to the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC) to find alternative solutions to address my injury, since the day he informed me of the lacksluster options available to me, back in April. Hearing him say this today leads me to believe he is incapable of truly listenting, which causes me grave concern.

Dr Delarosa gave me a straight forward plan for surgery. He got me in for the surgery within 9 days of my first appointment. Dr D and Rebecca did such an outstanding job that i was fit for full duty 3 months sooner than my 1st opinion doctor had insisted. As long as i keep breaking myself I will keep coming back here for repairs. This was my 3rd with this office. All 3 were outstanding results.

Dr. Delarosa is competent, knows his practice, and with his sense of humor, made my visit(s) feel comfortable, relaxed, and knowledgeable.
His staff were always willing to make it a stress-free environment.
I had a couple of issues with Dupuytrens Contracture (one on each hand) and both visits--5 months apart--were both educational as well as relieving, as I found that the process that Dr. Delarosa uses is a success!
Not that I wish to go back, but if I have any further orthopedic-related issues, THIS is the office I would go to. AND, highly recommend!

Dr D is a very energetic guy and knows his stuff. The reason I get annoyed with going to doctors and this happens most of the time especially with “specialists” is that you have a 9am appt wait until 9:35 to be seen for 3 min and pay $250. This appointment to check on the effectiveness of a cortisone shot could have been done on the phone saving all of us time and me money. If it turned out the shot did not work then an in person appointment could have been scheduled. There’s got to be a better way.

I usually don’t leave reviews, but Dr Delarosa and his team did such a fabulous job, and it was a very great experience. I broke my finger, and needed surgery with an open reduction and hardware. OCC and Dr. were able to get me appointments and a surgery within days, and they even worked with me with my VA referral to get me in as fast as possible. Dr. Delarosa and his team did an amazing job with the surgery, made sure I was informed, and were kind and helpful the whole time. It was very quick and easy (for me anyways!)
