Nik Sarac, MD

Dr. Nik Sarac is a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the knee, shoulder, hip, and elbow. He provides both advanced arthroscopic and open surgical procedures, with expertise in treating tendon, ligament, meniscus, labral, cartilage, and fracture injuries, as well as shoulder arthritis and shoulder replacement surgery. Dr. Sarac is committed to helping patients of all ages—from competitive athletes to active adults and weekend warriors—recover from injury, relieve pain, and safely return to the activities they enjoy.

Originally from Northeast Ohio, Dr. Nik Sarac earned his undergraduate degree, medical degree, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at The Ohio State University. As a student-athlete, he played defensive back for the Buckeyes, earning a scholarship during the team’s 2014–2015 National Championship season. He was also recognized with four Scholar-Athlete honors, two Academic All-Big Ten selections, and the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. His experience working alongside the team’s orthopedic surgeon inspired his passion for sports medicine and the opportunity to help athletes recover from injury and perform at their highest level.

During residency, Dr. Sarac served as Administrative Chief Resident and received the Patzakis Award for Leadership and Clinical Excellence. He also represented his residency program as a delegate to both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Residency Leadership Forum.

Dr. Sarac completed a highly regarded fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Steadman Hawkins Clinic Denver, where he served as an assistant team physician for the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, and Cherry Creek High School athletics programs. Although he originally planned to return to Ohio after fellowship, he and his family quickly embraced Colorado’s active lifestyle and chose to make it their permanent home.

As an orthopedic sports medicine specialist, Dr. Nik Sarac believes every patient deserves an individualized treatment plan focused on restoring function, improving performance, and helping them return to the activities they love. Whenever possible, he emphasizes non-operative treatment options before considering surgery and works closely with each patient to determine the most appropriate course of care.

Outside the office, Dr. Sarac enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children. He loves exploring Colorado’s outdoors, hiking with his family, watching sports, attending concerts, grilling, strength training, and sprinting.
