As an orthopedic surgeon native to Colorado, Dr. Justin Newman understands the importance of an active lifestyle. Using the most innovative techniques supported by the best research, his practice focuses on returning his patients to sports, work and activity as quickly as possible. This includes helping his patients to resolve sports injuries, and to heal and preserve their hips, knees and shoulders. His dedication to you as a patient begins with your very first visit, and continues throughout the recovery process.

Originally from Holyoke, Colorado, Dr. Newman grew up farming and ranching in a small community. He attended the University of Denver on a Boettcher Foundation Scholarship. While at the University of Denver, he dedicated a year to gaining international exposure, which included performing research on the Galapagos Islands and studying at The University of London and at La Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Chile. After graduating with Honors, he pursued his medical degree at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. During his time as a medical student, he traveled to Peru to further his research on the importance of the doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Newman also devoted a year to researching orthopedic trauma at Denver Health Medical Center.

Dr. Newman completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at The University of Colorado and was then accepted as an orthopedic fellow at the Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado. During this time, he treated professional athletes from all over the world, including athletes who participate in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, English Premier League and Ironman competitions. While working at this United States Olympic Committee National Medical Center, he also gained unique experience in the treatment of United States Olympians and Paralympians. He is also a United States Ski and Snowboard Association consultant team physician for both international and national events.

He has been nothing short of thorough in diagnosing the issue, as well as explaining it in a matter that is clear and understandable. He is kind and listens. After years of knee issues since childhood and many doctor visits, I finally landed in Dr. Newman’s office. After a few visits, Dr. Newman had a diagnosis and action plan. What sets this team apart is how well they educated me through the whole process making sure I understood every step and was comfortable. A year later I am still in physical therapy due to the complex surgery, but my knee has never felt more stable. Dr. Newman and the staff at OCC are super knowledgeable and have provided me with the best care. In the last year I have been having issues with my right knee and then my right hip. I just got injections for my knees. Andy was extremely understanding of my fear of these injections and injected them in the front of my knees instead of on the side. Much less pain and his compassion was incredibly helpful in alleviating my fear. Definitely a Five Star practice. I highly recommend them. I greatly appreciate the friend who recommended them to me.

Dr. Newman is patient, kind and has excellent bedside manner. I will update this review after my surgery, but my consultations with Dr. Newman have been far better than the other 4 orthopedic surgeons I saw before him. He treats me like an intelligent person and respects and listens to my needs and concerns. He includes my family members in conversations. His staff are kind and responsive. Overall this has been the best experience I've had with an orthopedic surgeon.
