Robert Leland, MD
Dr. Robert Leland joined Cornerstone Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in 2021. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and dual fellowship trained in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and orthopedic trauma who has practiced in Colorado since 2001. He is one of Colorado’s most experienced orthopedic Foot and Ankle surgeons and one of the first in the country to perform ankle replacements. Dr. Leland’s treatment philosophy centers on thoroughly educating patients about their condition and treatment options so they can best be involved in the decision-making process. He is a member of the Colorado Medical Society, American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and AO Alumni.
Prior to working at Cornerstone Orthopedics, Dr. Leland graduated from the University of Michigan and Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency training at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Leland completed fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and Orthopedic Trauma at University Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden, Germany. He subsequently returned to Detroit as Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery in the Department of Orthopedics at Wayne State University and Chief of Orthopedics at the VA Medical Center where he was twice awarded the Teacher of the Year Award. Dr. Leland currently serves as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado and received the Colonel Alan Bucknell Award for Teacher of the Year in 2020.
Dr. Leland specializes in all aspect of foot and ankle problems including sports injuries, complex deformity, fractures, ankle replacement, arthroscopy, arthritis, and bunion correction. He additionally treats general orthopedic trauma. Outside of work, Dr. Leland loves sharing in the lives of his grown children, exercising and playing hockey.
