Dr. Wayne Gersoff recognized his desire to enter a career in medicine, and, in particular, surgery, at an early stage in his education. Orthopedic surgery provided a unique blend of science, biomechanics, and technical skills as a mechanism to help people. This, coupled with his life-long participation in and love of sports, drew him to a career in orthopedic sports medicine. Following his academic years at Yale University and the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Gersoff was recruited to the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1987 to develop and direct a program in sports medicine, as well as serve as a team physician for the University of Colorado athletic teams. During his career, he has continued to be actively involved in sports medicine and has served as a team physician for the Colorado Rockies baseball team, the Denver Grizzlies hockey team, the U.S. Ski Jumping team, the U.S. Soccer Team, and the Denver Public Schools. He presently serves as team physician for the Colorado Rapids professional soccer team and has been the President of the Professional Soccer Physicians’ Society for ten years.
Dr. Gersoff is also recognized as a leader both on a national and international level for his experience in meniscal allograft transplantation, articular cartilage restoration, and the biological restoration of the knee joint. He has lectured on these topics at major medical meetings in the USA and abroad. In addition, he has edited and contributed to two textbooks: Cartilage Surgery – An Operative Manual and Mensical Transplantation: A Comprehensive Review, as well as multiple journal publications.

Dr. Gersoff demonstrates a rare blend of professional expertise and personal attentiveness, and this sets him apart from other successful surgeons.Three Month Update: I’m happy to report that the course of action that Dr. Gersoff recommended (which, in fact, was a more conservative approach than what was advised by his contemporaries) has proved to be the right call. All the goals that I had set pre-surgery have been achieved. I am fortunate to have been his patient.
I went to OCC for my tendonitis. I was alarmed by it (unsure whether or not it was actually a torn tendon), however Dr. Gersoff was nothing but helpful and reassuring. I would definitely come to him again if any more knee problems occur in the future.

Dr. Gersoff gives you piece of mind. My knees have become increasingly sore after decades of sports - mostly soccer, skiing, and running. I met with him for an initial examination and consultation. I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Gersoff's expertise, philosophy, and guidance as I get older with the goal of continuing to exercise for optimal physical and mental health.
After what I thought was a positive experience with another doctor and a last minute surgery cancellation, I saw Dr. Gersoff. He went over the MRI with me and pointed out all of the areas of concern and why I was in pain. His approach is conservative and I feel like I have a say in my treatment. A second opinion was worth it.

I was able to get in quickly on a Monday, had an MRI on Thursday and met with Dr. Gersoff on Friday to go over the results! Dr. Gersoff was very kind and explained everything thoroughly. I'm so grateful for his care!
