Carlton Clinkscales, MD

Dr. Clinkscales is a fellowship-trained, orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgeon who joined HSA in 1998 after three years of teaching full time at UC Health. After completing a degree in Religion from Davidson College (NC), he earned a medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta (GA). Dr. Clinkscales completed residency training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (MN) and completed his fellowship training at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis.

Honored by 5280 Magazine as one of Denver’s top doctors, Dr. Clinkscales regularly contributes to medical education by delivering presentations, publishing articles and demonstrating cutting-edge techniques in hand and upper extremity care.

Dr. Clinkscales has loved being able to raise his family in Colorado. More recently, he has enjoyed embarking on a variety of international medical missions alongside his wife and two sons. Dr. Clinkscales spends his free time traveling, skiing, scuba diving, or just reading especially if it’s with family or friends.

Specific interests include work injuries, sports injuries, nerve compressions (such as carpal tunnel syndrome) hand arthritis, scaphoid fractures and non-unions, as well as nerve repair.

Dupuytren's contracture was very bad in my right hand. I'd post a photo but it's too gruesome for public viewing. Dr. Clinkscales operated last Oct. My hand is now great! He did an amazing job. Plus the office PT staff is really top notch. the whole experience was much easier and less painful than I ever imagined. I am very grateful.

Carpal tunnel surgery in both hands done by Dr. Clinkscales and his team/colleagues at Focus Hand & Arm Surgery Center. Post op physical therapy at Orthopedic Centers of Colorado.Every single person I have met on this journey have been excellent and I highly recommend Dr. Clinkscales as the surgeon. I was referred to Dr. Clinkscales for a possible Dupuytren's Disease of the right hand. Exam determined that I was suffering from Stenosing Tenosynovitis commonly known as Trigger Finger which is treated with Cortisone injections. Prior to treatment I was loosing the strength of my grip. The injections have allowed me to maintain the strength of my grip. The experience with Dr. Clinkscales was very pleasant and enjoyable. With any hand treatment it is best to consider that someone should be available to drive afterwards. I do consider a 5 * rating for this experience.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Carlton Clinkscale for your hand problems. He listened to me, I didn’t feel hurried & he asked many questions!
