Joel B. Gonzales, MD

Joel Gonzales, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, joined Orthopedic Associates in 2001. He also has a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine from the ABOS. His special interests include the treatment of sports related injuries of the shoulder and knee.

Dr. Gonzales received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia. He then attended medical school at George Washington University. His internship and residency in orthopedic surgery were completed at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Gonzales completed his fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at Orthopedic Research of Virginia. Dr. Gonzales is an active member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Gonzales was also the head team physician for the Colorado Crush, and a consulting physician for the Denver Nuggets (2001-2008) and Colorado Avalanche (2001-2017). Dr. Gonzales has a certification of added qualification in sports medicine.

I had a great experience yesterday with Dr. Gonzales! (I always have a great experience at Orthopedic Associates, regardless of which doctor I see for which joint issue.). I went in for one thing, but Dr. Gonzales made a recommendation that I do another. Obviously he was 100% correct! My knee feels so much better today, just in time for a hiking trip. I have been going there for many, many years and have never had a bad experience. I recommend them to everyone I know.

Dr. Gonzales was amazing. Listened to my concerns, and addressed them accordingly.He was able to see me on a urgent appointment for s very painful bakers cyst on the back of my knee. He drained the cyst, and I was almost instantly without the severe pain that I had walked in the clinic with.I would highly recommend Dr. Gonzales for knee related issues. Great listening, explanation, and bedside skills!
