Brian J. Larkin, MD
Brian J. Larkin, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is a native of Michigan and joined Orthopedic Associates in 2012. Orthopedic Associates was one of the founding divisions of Orthopedic Centers of Colorado, a multi-site Orthopedic Group throughout the front range of Colorado founded in 2017.
His clinical expertise is in primary and revision hip and knee replacement and treatment of the young adult hip, including hip arthroscopy and open hip preservation surgery. He utilizes the latest developments in joint replacement surgery including anterior approach total hip arthroplasty, partial knee replacement, and minimally invasive knee and hip replacement. Dr. Larkin routinely performs many of his joint replacements in the outpatient setting, allowing patients to go home hours after surgery.
Dr. Larkin attended Yale University where he played varsity soccer and graduated with honors in biomedical engineering. He then obtained his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery internship and residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, serving as the Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Larkin did his fellowship training in joint preservation, Resurfacing, and Replacement at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He has been actively involved in research, including presentations at regional and national meetings, peer reviewed journal publications, and as an author of a book chapter.
Dr. Larkin is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, an Emerging Leader in the American Orthopedic Association, and active within the Colorado and Denver Medical Societies. Dr. Larkin serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Orthopedic Centers of Colorado and sits on the Medical Executive Board for Surgical Care Affiliates, helping craft policies and procedures for the region and the nation. Dr. Larkin chairs the High Acuity Sub-Committee for the SCA’s Medical Executive Board and recently completed Optum’s Sequoia Fellowship for healthcare leaders. He has also been the Co-Director of the Orthopedic Program at Rose Medical Center since 2016 and served as a consulting physician for the Colorado Avalanche from 2012-2017.
