Dr. Maslow performed a soft tissue transposition to help decompress my ulnar nerve.
I went to Dr. Maslow as a second option but I wish I went to him first. Please note (have had a few surgeries in the past and I have had to advocate for myself in almost all cases). The first doctor I went to, I didn’t feel was moving with the sense of urgency I needed to be comfortable, and they didn’t make me feel secure that they understood how impactful and scary losing the ability to use my hand was. My muscles in my hand and arm were actively breaking down and I was losing all strength in my hand from a compressed nerve. At one point I could not even open a jar of peanut butter.
First appointment I had with Dr. Maslow, he LISTENED. We discussed everything I was experiencing, and even did a muscle strength evaluation where he did agree and could see what I was feeling with the losing my grip strength compared to my non dominate hand. He immediately brought me in the day after I had tests which were needed to confirm the extent of the damage and surgery was scheduled a few days later (needed insurance approval and crap). Him and his team’s push to help me was amazing (plus his nurse Sasha was so patient with me).
My post surgery has been amazing. I am lucky In that my numbness was fixed immediately, but in my post op, we went through everything he did, how he checked to make sure the surgery was a success even before I woke up. I’m approximately 2 weeks post op, and while no, I cannot start throwing heavy weights around just yet, I’m back to being able to do simple things such as lifting a pot when cooking dinner without dropping it.
