Orthopedic Physical Therapy: An Essential Tool for your Health and Recovery
Orthopedic physical therapy helps to build strength, improve range of motion and restore function.
It is essential, both to help patients prepare for surgery, and part of a comprehensive treatment and recovery plan post-surgery, as well as for nonsurgical care of many injuries and joint conditions.
There are a broad number and type of injuries or conditions that are treated by orthopedic physical therapy. These include the following, as well as many others depending on your injury and the discretion of your physician:
- Tendonitis or bursitis
- Herniated Disc
- Plantar Fasciitis / Heel Spurs
- Lower Back Pain
- Sciatica / Pinched Nerve
- ACL Tear
- Rotator cuff tears
- Tennis or golfer’s elbow
- Muscle instability
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
Our orthopedic physical therapy teams have extensive knowledge of the muscoloskeletal system and are committed to helping you achieve your best results. Each team is comprised of Doctors of Physical Therapy, Physical Therapy Assistants, Exercise Physiologists, and a support team. Together, they focus on a holistic plan for your health and recovery.
During Your Appointment
At each appointment, you’ll experience one-on-one sessions that include detailed physical examinations and evidence-based techniques that keep you progressing toward your goals. Among the various techniques your care team may use, are manual and manipulative therapy, mechanical devices, heat or cold treatments, specific exercises and technology such as Trigger Point Dry needling, cupping and kinesiology taping.
By taking a patient-centered approach, our orthopedic physical therapy teams carefully incorporate your circumstances into the treatment plan. This will make it easier and more likely for patients to complete additional prescribed exercises at appointments or at home.
This includes working closely with each patient and the orthopedic physical therapy team to create a realistic and sustainable treatment program. Programs that fit into your busy schedule and minimizes the chances of reinjury. It’s this continuity of care that sets you up for the best outcomes.
