Biography
Dr. Lufrano is a board eligible orthopedic traumatologist who specializes in the treatment of fractures. He was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. He completed medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where he graduated AOA. He went on to residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Wisconsin and completed a fellowship in orthopedic trauma at Tampa General Hospital, one of the oldest and most prestigious trauma fellowships in the country.
Dr. Lufrano is an avid runner, whitewater kayaker, and skier. He can frequently be found enjoying the clear creek whitewater park near his home in Golden or taking advantage of one of the many nearby trails with his wife and two dogs.
His clinical expertise lies in treating complex skeletal trauma including fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum as well as peri-articular and long bone injuries. He has been an active contributor to the field of orthopedic trauma and has presented his research several times at the Orthopedic Trauma Association’s annual meetings. In addition to fracture care Dr. Lufrano also holds an interest anterior total hip arthroplasty.
