Philip Stull, MD

Dr. Philip Stull considers communication with his patients his strongest asset and takes pride on ensuring that they understand their health condition and treatment options well at the conclusion of their visit. He believes in discussing all treatment options including non-surgical approaches such as physical therapy, medications, injections, and activity modification. Surgical intervention is only recommended when it is clearly indicated, and non-surgical measures have been exhausted. Dr. Stull does not utilize a physician assistant or any sort of extender in his practice, so his patients will be evaluated with him personally at each visit. With his extensive experience and training he will partner with his patients to build a strong doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Stull serves as the Head Team Physician for the Denver Outlaws professional lacrosse team. He also serves as Head Team Physician for the Canadian Men’s National Lacrosse Team. Formerly he served as Head Team Physician for the Colorado Mammoth professional lacrosse team (2002-2017). He also served as Medical Director of Major League Lacrosse (2013-2016)

Dr. Stull graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984 and received his medical degree from Yale University in 1988. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the New York Orthopedic Hospital/Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and graduated in 1993. He then received specialized training in sports medicine by completing a year-long fellowship at the University of Colorado and Aspen Valley Hospital in Aspen, Colorado. He has experience treating professional, collegiate, high school, and all levels of recreational athletes. He has published extensively in the orthopedic literature including articles based on original research.

In his free time, Dr. Stull enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his 3 children’s lacrosse and hockey teams, skiing, cycling, triathlon and fishing.
