R. Presley Swann, MD


Dr. R. Presley Swann is a skilled knee and hip orthopedic doctor. He is one of a few doctors in the country who specializes in hip preservation surgery and minimally invasive knee and hip surgery. He is a specialist in hip dysplasia surgery, hip resurfacing, and periacetabular osteotomy. In addition, he is trained in partial and total knee replacement surgery and direct anterior hip replacements.

Dr. Swann did a masters in pharmacology and completed his medical degree at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, LA during Hurricane Katrina. He was given the honor of being selected into AOA which means he served the community during crisis, completed research, and graduated at the top of his class. He was accepted to the world renowned Mayo Clinic for his training in Orthopedic Surgery. While at Mayo, Dr. Swann completed many research projects and wrote chapters for books on joint replacement surgery.

He was selected into one of the top fellowships in the country for hip preservation and joint replacement to become an expert in his field. Since his formal training, Dr. Swann has been named Fellowship Director and Founder of the OCC Hip and Knee Fellowship to help train the next generation of surgeons. He has been featured in many news outlets due to his non-narcotic pathways for joint replacement, excellent outcomes, and is a nationally known teaching surgeon having other surgeons come in to learn from him.

Each year, Dr. Swann participates in Operation Walk, a mission to provide free surgeries to third-world countries. Teams of volunteer surgeons, nurses and scrub technicians come together to provide free joint replacement surgeries for those in need and teach the country’s local medical staff how to perform them. Dr. Swann’s other hobbies include cooking, golf, skiing, boating and hunting.
